Mu Delta Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. and 5 Pearlz of Hope Foundation, Inc. will award scholarships to graduating high school seniors in the Killeen/Fort Cavazos/Harker Heights/Copperas Cove area who exhibit high academic standards, service within the community, and dedication to their future scholarly endeavors.

Note:  Scholarships are paid directly to the college or university, not the student.

Eligibility

  1. Must be a graduating senior from an area high school meeting the requirements outlined in the scholarship description

  2. Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5

  3. Must attend an interview (The scholarship committee will contact the applicant to schedule.)

The Mu Delta Zeta Chapter General Scholarship

This scholarship will assist a deserving female high school graduating senior attending a Killeen ISD or Copperas Cove ISD school with furthering her educational pursuits beyond high school. The scholarship will be awarded to a young woman who exhibits high academic standards, service within her community, and dedication to her future scholarly endeavors.

The Dream Big Reach High Scholarship

This scholarship aims to assist a deserving high school graduating senior attending a Killeen ISD or Copperas Cove ISD school with furthering their educational pursuits beyond high school. The scholarship will be awarded to a young man or woman who exhibits high academic standards, service within their community, and dedication to their future scholarly endeavors.

The Lois Fields Scholarship

The Lois Fields Scholarship is in honor of one of the charter members of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, Mu Delta Zeta Chapter. Mrs. Fields graduated salutatorian in the Class of 1960 from Ralph J. Bunche High School in Crockett, Texas. She attended Paul Quinn College in Waco, followed by Texas Southern University, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Art Education. Mrs. Fields began her teaching career by returning to her beloved Ralph J. Bunche High School as an Art teacher. In 1968, when her husband was stationed at Fort Cavazos (formerly Fort Hood), she taught kindergarten and first grade and later became the Fort Hood Kindergarten & Under School principal. Her devotion to childhood education led Mrs. Fields to the Child and Youth Services Division at Fort Hood, where she became Director of the Child Development Center until her retirement in 2004.

This scholarship will be awarded to a female high school senior planning to major in education and become a certified public school teacher.

The Elva Chase Scholarship

This scholarship honors the giving spirit and life of service exemplified by one of the charter members of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, Mu Delta Zeta Chapter. Mrs. Chase graduated from Grambling High School in Grambling, Louisiana. She was inspired by her High School English teacher, who was very encouraging and lived by the motto of “do it right or leave it alone.” This motto would guide Mrs. Chase and influence her life’s work trajectory. She attended Grambling State University in Grambling, Louisiana, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in English in 1970. Mrs. Chase has been instrumental in several endeavors to impact the educational awareness of the citizens of her community. One such endeavor for which Mrs. Chase has left her fingerprint is in the role she served to help establish Transformative Charter Academy, the first charter school in Killeen, Texas. Mrs. Chase has taught many grade levels, retiring as a Communications Professor in 2006 from Central Texas College. She currently serves as an online tutor for Central Texas College.​

This scholarship will be awarded to an African American female senior who believes in providing service to others and her community, exemplified through her actions, words, and deeds while maintaining high scholarly standards, as evidenced by 200 documented hours of volunteer service.

The Pearlz of Hope Scholarship

The 5 Pearlz of Hope Foundation, Incorporated is the scholarship and educational arm of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated Mu Delta Zeta Chapter. The Foundation supports higher education and promotes individual and community development. This scholarship aims to recognize the efforts of African American female high school seniors who have overcome obstacles in life and persevered.

The Margaret Jones Edmonson Scholarship

The Margaret Jones Edmonson Scholarship honors one of the mothers-in-love of Dr. Lendy Jones, 5 Pearlz of Hope Foundation Board Member.

This scholarship aims to recognize the efforts of African American students who exhibit high academic standards and dedication to their future scholarly endeavors.

​

The scholarship will be awarded to a young African American male or female with a 3.0 GPA or higher who is interested in pursuing a degree in nursing or education. Students enrolled in medical-related courses or who have received the Public Service Endorsement are encouraged to apply.

The Great Escape Killeen STEM Scholarship

The Great Escape Killeen STEM Scholarship is available to both male and female students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher who are entering any STEM-related major.

The Oliver & Victoria Mintz Public Service Scholarship

The Oliver and Victoria Mintz Public Service Scholarship is awarded to a Killeen ISD student who ranks in the top 10% of their class. The recipient must plan to attend college in Texas and pursue a career in law or public service.
